Choirs at American Fork High School

There are four choirs at American Fork High School under the direction of Mrs. Tracy Warby. All of these choirs are full year classes. These choirs have the opportunity to go on tour and represent AFHS at both Region and State Festivals. There is a long standing tradition of excellence in the choral program and all the performing arts at AFHS.

Mrs. Warby has been the director at American Fork High School since 1997. She has a bachelor of music degree from Brigham Young University in vocal performance/pedagogy and a master of music from Brigham Young University in choral conducting where she conducted the BYU Women's Chorus for three years. She has run a private vocal studio since 1985. Before becoming a full-time teacher she sang professionally throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Utah. In 2008 Mrs. Warby conducted the State Women's Honor Choir in Abravanel Hall. This same year she and the AFHS Women's Choir presented a session at the UMEA Convention on the teaching of vocal techniques specific to women's choirs. In 2017 & 2019 Mrs. Warby conducted the AFHS Chamber Choir in a solo performance at Carnegie Hall as part of the National Honor Choir Festival.

Specializing in musical theater and classical styles of singing, Mrs. Warby has taught musical theater vocal techniques as well as traditional vocal pedagogy sessions at both Trade Secrets and UMEA conventions on multiple occasions. In 2012 she received the Excellence in Teaching Award at AFHS. She has served as the ACDA-Utah repertoire and standards chair for high schools and also as a member of the UMEA choral committee. She and her husband, Shane were members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for ten years but resigned when they were blessed to adopt their son, Clark in 2013.
