Choir Audition Information
Students wishing to audition should sign up for a time on the choir room door beginning February 1. Auditions will take place the first two weeks of February. If signing up for a time is not possible, send Mrs. Warby an email and she will put you on the schedule. Students should be prepared to sing scales to test range, listen to scales and modes played and then sing them back a cappella, and sight sing (preferably using solfeg-do, re, mi). Students will then be placed in the choir most suited to not only their musicianship, but to their vocal and social maturity. Sophomores may not be in A Cappella Choir or Chamber Singers. That is a privilege for Juniors and Seniors only. Following general auditions there will be an afternoon for Chamber Singers call backs. If a student makes it to call backs he or she is a good enough musician to be in the group. At call backs the director is listening for vocal maturity, the speed at which students learn music, and how well a student's voice blends with other students at the call back audition. Due to state regulations only 32 singers are permitted in Chamber Singers. Please note that students in Chamber Singers are required to go on tour and are committing to earning the money to go either through fund raisers or on their own. All other choirs have the option of going on tour, but are not required to do so.
